Every night there are 3 databases that are being backed-up. Only the data is being backed up. The problem is that the first 2 databases back-up with no problem. The last back-up fails at about 90%. The only message I receive is that the file is locked by another process. There are no other processes running at this time.
What could possibly be the problem? Where do I begin to look? The last back-up fails every night at about the same time. Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance!

We need some more information on this one.
1. How are you doing your backups?
SQL Server commands to disk? to tape?
Third-party software to disk? to tape?
2. Any other jobs running during the time the backup is being done?
3. Are you backing up across the network or to the SQL Server server?

The backups are to disk and there are no other jobs running other than these. I am backing up to SQL server.
