I am encountering an issue with a call from a LinkedServer that is causing excessive blocking. The SPID shows a status of DORMANT. This just started happening after doing some maintenance on our cluster and I am at a loss to explain why a) the SPID is showing DORMANT for an extented period and b) why it would still be holding a lock if it is DORMANT ?
Any and all suggestions would help!

A status of Dormant is considered the same as Sleeping, with the exception that a status of Dormant means that the SPID has
been reset after completing an RPC event. The reset cleans up resources used during the RPC event. This is a normal state and the SPID is available and waiting to execute further commands.
