Speccing new hardware

    Hi all

    Are there any good articles out there to spec out a new SQL server machine for an existing application? Including things like how to judge how much CPU and memory the SQL server actually requires?

    Depending on your edition of SQL, the CPU you pick could drastically increase your licensing costs.

    To know how much YOUR app(s) needs, you would really need to monitor it and track utilization. MDW (Management Data Warehouse) can be very useful when doing this:
