sp_spaceused vs. Properties: Space available:

    I have a win 2003 server hosting 1 SQL 2000 database for networking monitoring and logging. As a data logger it consumes space pretty quickly and I've been keeping an eye on it recently. I've noticed today that running sp_spaceused @updateused = 'TRUE' is returning an unallocated space of 670 MB and from the properties page of the database I see that the Space available shows 5,898 MB. Shouldn't these 2 figures match or am I misinterpreting them?

    The properties page includes free logspace. The sp_spaceused only shows free on the primary data file. You can right click the database in the EM tree and choose view -> Taskpad. That might shed some more light on it.
