We have a 4 node cluster with 4 seperate virtual server names, each with an instance of SQL2000.
Owns
Node A - SQL1HQ/SUN & SQL4HQ
Node B - SQL2HQ/CMS
Node C - SQL3HQ/HR
Node D - PASSIVE
One of the instances has the database for a product that won't support SP4. Does this mean that 1) we can't patch any of them as the instance may fail over to one of the other nodes, or 2) as they are seperate virtual servers we can patch all other instances except the not supported one as when it fails over it will still use the tools for sp3a.
Please help.
Thanks
Dan

They are separate virtual servers, so you can upgrade each instance separately that won't affect the others. I mean, upgrade all yuor instances but not the one that doesn't support SP4.
