Dear All,
I am very new to DBA activities and installing SP3 in one of the my production server.Want to the steps which i need take before and after the SP3 installation.
Its SQL server 2005 Enterprise edition having 23 user databases with max size of 70GB.
Also if you could pls mention dos and Don't will be helpful.

First of all, if you're upgrading SQL Server 2005 now, I would go for SP4, not SP3.
You should make a full backup of all databases prior to upgrading and a new full backup of all your system databases (master, model and msdb) immediately after the upgrade. These 3 databases can only be restored to the exact same version of SQL server as they were backed up from - hence you will no longer be able to restore your old backups.
