SP3 Install Under SQL Server Service User Account

    Just a general question...how important is it that a service pack be installed under the domain account that the SQL Server service and SQL Agent service run under?

    It isn't. I have never installed SQL Server or a service pack under any account any part of SQL Server runs under. You need to have an admin-level account to install it, but it need not be the exact account SQL runs under. Since I am an admin on the SQL boxes I administer, I just install under my account.
