I have a solution with 70 packages. Every time I open it I have to right click and sort the packages. Im not sure what logic it sorts by from startup but I would like to make it sort the packages alphabetically from the start. I looked into doing this via xml in the .dtproj file but I didnt see any way to sort the package list. Its not even using the order used there. Any ideas?

Its a known bug they apparently decided not to fix
Also, the alleged work around is to sort the packages in the dtproj file, so I'm surprised that didn't work for you.

Not only 'alleged' – sorting in the project file works for me.

I wonder why that didnt work for me... I alphabetized it in the .dtproj file and it does not open with packages sorted in the solution.
