How to evaluate solar winds information for a server any documents.

Having never heard of solar winds on a server a quick google search suggests that this is free ftp software? If that is the case it has absolutely no business being anywhere near a sql server. If it is something else please explain what you mean.

Solarwinds, is primarily a network monitoring tool but has branched out into a IT Management & monitoring solutions
I evaluated it a good few years ago now and it wasn't mature enough for SQL server monitoring, we went for Spotlight from Quest (now Dell) instead.

I agree with Anthony. If you're looking at Solarwinds for SQL monitoring go elsewhere (I've used Spotlight). You can also look at solutions from Idera and Redgate. If you look at the top right of your browser you'll see the folded corner on SSC which when you mouse over it shows SQL Monitor from Redgate. Even their network monitoring tool my old manager (who was a CISCO consultant) didn't like it very much.
