Snapshot process failing to connect to publisher

  I have recently removed from server 1 the publishing and distribution functions which used to push publications to server 2. I now have set up server 2 to be the distribution function and thereby moving workload to a less utilised server. My problem is I now need to recreate all my subscription processes/jobs on server 2 from recreated publications on server 1, but I keep getting the snapshot process failed to connect to publisher error. I've changed the publisher to distributor password on server 1 and ensured it is the same as the publisher access password to distributer on server 2. I guess part of the problem may be that the distribution function has swapped between the two servers and there is some previous setting I have not changed yet.

  Any suggestions would be welcome.

  So have you removed replication totally from server 1 before putting it back on server 2 ?

  Can you give me the steps you went through..... 🙂
