Hi,
Create a maintenance plan to execute you're backups.
The maintenance plan will create a job in the jobs agent. There you can specify to e-mail an operator when the job fails

for sql server 2005
Before you configure Database Mail, you need to review the following prerequisites
1.Database Mail must be enabled
2.Service Broker needs to be enabled in the Database Mail host database
do the following:
1. Configured Database Mail (using SSMS. Management ->database maul. right click - configure db mail wizard ).
2. Setup SQL Server Agent to use the Profile under the alert system tab.
3. Created an operator.
4. Created a job and set to email that operator on failure.
5. Restarted SQL Server Agent.

Hi
We are using SQL server 2000 Enterprise edition in Win 2k Server.
We have several daily backup and restore jobs which are scheduled at
various timings.
I want to configure SMTP mail to send mail/alert automatically whenever the jobs are success/Fail. Kindly let me know what are the things required and how to configure those things.
Thanks
Kuma
