Hi there,
ahem, what is the eightball smily for?
What emotion can I express with it?
Cheers,
Frank

Here I think this is right.
quote:
EIGHTBALL'Eightball' is a highly uncomplimentary slang word standing for a rather objectionable character ('gold brick', 'goof'). The word owes its origin to the billiard game where the number 8 ball has some restrictive associations which make it an object of disapproval. Namely, in a pocket billiard game, popular in the USA, the player loses if he directs the eight ball into the pocket. Hence, the phrase 'be behind the eightball' (in trouble).

So the right one to start a flame war?
If so, I'll stay away from it. This isn't the place for such a thing!
Cheers,

You know, I don't think the majority of people even have a clue on this one so they jsut ignore it. Of course it is a good one if you have an urgent issue where something is going wrong and you need assistance but again how many knew what it meant. Most people even just ignore the smilies. But es it someone took offense to a comment on someone else where you use that in reference to them and the person has a clue then "let the flames begin".
