Sorry to hear that - we've not seen a repeat of the same packet loss we were seeing since it was fixed, so it feels like it must be unrelated. If you can either drop a reply on this thread, or email me (I'm sure you can guess my @red-gate.com address from my SSC username!) while it's in go-slow mode for you, I'll do my best to jump on while it's happening, and see if I can dig into the cause.
Thanks,
Rob
Thanks Rob. We appreciate everything you and the rest of the team do to keep the site up and running. It does seem that I am not the only person experiencing really bad performance for the past 2-3 days. Let me know if there is anything I can do from my end to help you troubleshoot the issue.

Rob ...I am based in the UK and I have not experienced the issues raised by Sean today (10/09/15)
the response from the site in last 10 days since you fixed the previous problem has been great and continues to be so...as far I as I am concerned.
not sure if this is of help......but thanks for all you guys do to keep this site running effectively.

Thanks all.
Times (with timezone!) when it's particularly bad for you are definitely the most helpful bit in the first instance - then I can correlate them against logs, perf counters and network traffic graphs, and spot the patterns.
Thanks,

Anyone hear squeaking at around 1:16am (London time)?
I had a long delay when I clicked Reply on a thread, it felt like upwards of 30 seconds or so before the page loaded.
All seemed fine after that.
As a side note, there is a constant, repeated, failed attempt to GET http://www.sqlservercentral.com/Forums/tbl_spacer.gif happening on these pages - response code 403 - Forbidden.

Thanks, I'll get someone to take a look at the hosting provider.
September 14, 2015 at 3:40 am
Morning all,
MM - that's an interesting graph, because the vast bulk of the time is the browser waiting before it tries to open the connection to the server, rather than the server actually taking a long time to respond once the request is fired off.
There's normally a limit of how many concurrent connections a browser will open to one server (6 in the case of Chrome, I think), which means there's probably another request in progress somewhere that's actually causing the problem. It might be on another SSC tab (I think the connection limit spans all tabs) if you have multiple open, or just another request a little earlier on the page that hasn't completed.
Out of interest, is it normally just the forums that are the problem, or the rest of the site as well?
Thanks,
Rob

Hi Robert,
I hadn't noticed that about the delay! I'll check next time whether there are multiple tabs open and check in another browser as well.
For me, yes, the problem only seems to be on the forums.
Thanks

The speed issues seem to have been elusive for me too. Not sure what, if anything, you did but it seems to have helped.

Just took 60 seconds to get to forum 433-1 and then 30 seconds into this thread with 30 seconds to get to the posting box.
Time was 9:07:28.955 according to fiddler
