First, I'm a newbie to the forum.
I'm a consultant working with a company on a project to upgrade a health record system. The SQL 2012 DB will be pretty basic - - forms and free text. They project that max concurrent connected users will be 2,500.
They have spec'd out a server that has 512GB RAM. They also have a Fusion I/O card and a 4x600GB internal array in their server. I think they are being overly conservative on the memory by at least 2X, but I'm not experienced with MS SQL.
I realize an exact value for "RAM per user" (after system / OS and DB needs itself) is probably not possible with this level of detail, but does anyone have any tips on what neighborhood we should be looking in. My gut tells me they could be in the 192GB area and still have loads of headroom.'
Thx,
Noj

RAM per user?
As for SQL's memory, http://www.sqlskills.com/blogs/jonathan/post/how-much-memory-does-my-sql-server-actually-need.aspx
