Single user mode not working

  • This is a first for me. I've reinstalled this SQL Server 2005 box and i'm trying to move the system dbs.

The services are running under an account. If I set the startup parameters to ;-c;-m;-T3608 as it states it will start in single user mode properly. The only problem is that it won't let me connect to it at all.

I'm dumfounded. I've already worked 3.5 hours late and if anyone can offer tips that'd be cool.

  • Make sure none of the other services start up and "steal" your connection. SQL Agent, SSRS, Analysis Services, leave them off.

Your lack of planning does not constitute an emergency on my part...unless you're my manager...or a director and above...or a really loud-spoken end-user..All right - what was my emergency again?

  • Thanks...that got that part, but now I'm pulling my hair out on other issues related to this.
