Similar to profiler

  • Hi to all:

our HelpDesk needs from time to time to run a trace in some of my servers. They don't have sysadmin permissions so right now, I reset the password of a user with sysadmin rights, and let them use it for a few minutes.

This have become unconfortably, so I wanted to create a visual (6 or .NET) app to run traces on SQL Server. I Know to use trace stored procedures and save the result to a file and then import it to a table, but wanted to know if it is possible to create something like profiler, that will show the traces in realtime in the screen.

    Any ideas?

    thanks in advanced.

  • Hi:

I have investigated a bit and I found the SQLNS_CmdID_WIZARD_CREATETRACE command in the SQLNS object.

     http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/sqlns/ns_ref_06y9.asp

Manage to open and show almost every EM wizard, but still coudn't manage to open the create trace wizard. No error, it just won't open.

Has anyone used this object before? Maybe I could get a bit of help.
