Hi,
We have SQL Server 2008 R2 and SQL Server 2012 in production but I am posting it in 2012 forum not to duplicate the question. We have transactional and snapshot replication implemented in our environment and unfortunately the subscribers are also the distributors. Now, after almost 5 years we have to shut down all the servers for maintenance (No server will remain up) and then restart them when the maintenance is done. I know this is not ideal but this is how it is going to be done. 🙁
My only concern is that is there any sequence of steps recommended while restarting the replicated servers? I mean something like Publisher should be shut down before the Subscriber etc. TIA.

You don't need to worry about that as replication will pick up where it left off.
After the restart, you can startup the Log reader agent and Distribution agent jobs. The snapshot agent job is typically scheduled to run at specified times.

What Sue said is correct but you also might want to take this time to get everything straightened out and better organized IF you feel that will be helpful with the way the set up is going...A lot of times its a i got it back up with minimal down time but then you have the i should have done this or that upon the rebuild/upgrade.
