Shrinking or rebuilding LDF for my MDF : Which one ?

    I know I can shrink a ldf file for my database (mdf), but what about un-attaching the database from the server and re-attaching the database, and let server build a new ldf for the database ? Whats the pros and cons in doing this, any ideas ???

    Never heard of that where it would build a new .ldf file for you.

    If you are set to simple recovery just back it up and then shrink the ldf to get rid of the free space (make sure that you only allocate as much as it is using in the database properties. (initial size)

    yes u can do that easiy.I had tried that it works fine unless u dont want to recover the data from the ldf file till that instant.
