Shouldn't system databases also be backed up?

    Good point Greg. There are other things we could continue to add to this thread as well - such as Keys. But I think that might be going beyond the scope of this question.

    That is a system database and should be backed up.

    It's a lot easier to have backups, than to explain to someone why you don't, especially during DR.
