I have often wondered of the (Effects?) of ANSI_NULLS, and now I have a slightly clearer understanding.
By changing SET ANSI_NULL to OFF the results for the first query are changed.

I'm glad you folks liked it. That problem occurred in a production system I developed and had me scratching my head for a while. Why did my query return no results? Until I noticed a null value in the table I used for the subquery.
(@sipas I like the Zombies too but my favourite is the Carlos Santana version)
