Hi all,
It recently came to my attention that a new SQL Server is to be configured to share its a raid 10 array (w/ 7 physical drives) to be used for the database data files with another application, specifically Exchange.
Should this be a concern?
Thanks,
Sherri

Typically, I would never install SQL Server and Exchange on the same machine, much less let them share data drives. Exchange and SQL Server deserve their own machines because of resource utilization and memory utilization.
IMHO, setting both on the same box will degrade the performance of both.

Use performance monitor to see how I/O subsystem performs when both SQL Server and Exchange are busy, also CPU and memory resources. That will give you ideas whether you should run both application in same server.

How can you set up a raid 10 array with an odd number of drives?
