We are considering to use SSL https for reporting sites. We are using SQL server 2019 SSRS. We have some front end applications that is using https, and some web pages in the front end applications are pulling reports from SSRS server.
For security reasons for example to encrypt the password for data source, we want now to set up SSRS to use https too.
Our district have some internal wild card for certificate and want us to use that.
I read I can do the configuration of https in the reporting service manager, I understand that step. But the step I am wondering is, do I also need the step to install the certificate on the server? for I know this SSRS server has no certificate installed. if so, do I need to install IIS on the reporting server in order to install certificate.
We don't host any website on this SSRS server, so IIS never installed.
If we need to install certicate without install IIS first, then what is the exact step to do ? Will that also work with internal wild card certificate?
Thanks much
Thanks
