Can someone point me to an article or describe briefly my steps to set up SQL Mail on my SQL2005 box while we are using Lotus Notes? I'm not overly familiar with Lotus Notes, as I've only been in shops with Outlook, and I'm certainly not an email genius.

Why use SQL Mail instead of the new Database Mail feature? With Database Mail you should need an SMTP Server to point to.

Agree with Jack.
SQLMail is on its way out (I don't think it will exist in 2008). It requires an "extended MAPI client", which coincidentally equates to an OUTLOOK client, talking to an Exchange server (fancy how that happens:)). None of which will work for your scenario. Go with SMTP, which means setting up Database Mail instead.

Will do. I just noticed on the technet forum article that instead of using SQL Mail, I should be using Database Mail, as SQL Mail is going away. My company is still in the process of migrating SQL2000 to SQL2005. I know we should probably be going to SQL2008, but we're not ready to make that jump just yet. Our 2005 Server is still just a 'development' server. I assume that setting up Database Mail is fairly simple, even with Lotus Notes. I'm sure I'll have additional questions, I hope I can count on you guys to help me out if I'm having problems.
