Dear people,
has anyone seen this message in event viewer logs 'String message: 'Session
idle timeout over, tearing down the session.'
Source: MSDTC
Category: CM
Type: Information
Message appears almost every 15 min.
MSDTC is started.
No DTS packages run at current time.
There is linked server that used for calling stored procedures on that
server.
Microsoft SQL Server 2000 - 8.00.665 (Intel X86)
Standard Edition on Windows NT 5.0 (Build 2195: Service Pack 2)
Any info will be greatly appreciated

I've seen it. I have had it. It is very hard to troubleshoot and I don't have much info for you.
Check to see if your machines have distinct identities as far as DTC is concerned. You can verify through this program from Microsoft:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;q306843
Also check and see if there is code that is running exceptionally long and timing out before it finishes.
If I think of other stuff, I will let you know.

I have seen this errors also in the event log. What i understand is that with the linked servers, somehow the session being created does not terminate on its own. After some time, MSDTC sees it to be an orphaned session and kills the session. I believe nothing to worry about but let me know if you come to know about something useful.
