I have a MS SQL Server 7.0 (sp1) instance and I am trying to give a user access to a particular database (SQL Server authentication)
I am able to set up the userid and privileges and When I have the user refresh the databases, she can see them. But next time she logs in they're gone. Refreshing takes a long time, and doesn't always work.
The access if fine when I use Query Analyzer, but Enterprise Manager seems to be having problems. I searched a bit on Google yesterday, and saw plenty of posts to forums from people having the same problem, but no solutions. Has anyone heard of this? Could we need a service pack for the client tools? or perhaps upgrade the Client tools to 2000?

Too the best of my knowledge, SQL Server 2000 client tools work with SQL Server 7.

Thank you. rather than upgrade the client tools to 2000, I think I will try the MDAC updates. Do you think MDAC 2.8 work as well?? Or do I need to do 2.7 and it's SP1?

I don't know realy ..
but I think MDAC 2.7 and its SP1 and its SP1 refresh is the best
I think Mdac 2.8 support ADO ver 2 !!
