I have created a few named instances on our new SQL2000 server, then I installed Service Pack 3. If I create more instances, do I need to reinstall SP3 on those instances? I am wondering how this will affect recovery, should our server die...
You do need to run against each instance since there are sql statements ran against the master and other things. As for recovery you will have to install each instance in the case of a total server rebuild and patch each to SP3 then restore your databases (Master included).
