Hi All
My mind has hit a brick wall and I need a leg up.
I have to write a report on the current configuration of SQL Server and provide recommendations for upgrades and/or tuning .
What I'm getting stuck on is an overall outline for the document . I can get all the required info, just can't seem to organise it in a ordered manner.
Hope someone could give me a guiding hand, or even some template or something I could follow .
Thanks
Phill

Introduction: State what this is (current config, perform analysis and recommendations)
Current Config: Do hardware and software. SQL config, database physical layout. Server settings, backup plan, etc.
PErformance: Run some numbers, profiler, perf mon, etc. and determine what the server is doing. Correlate this with performance as perceived by users.
Recommendations: Make some deicsions about what you can do to improve performance.
