I am getting the following error when trying to connect to my sql server in enterprise manager I get "Server \\server is not known to be running. Do
you wish to connect"
I can see the server to register it but it fails to connect to the server saying either server does not exist or access denied.
I know the service is running on the server.
The company has a firewall but I am on a separate lan node and should not be affected. Is there something I missed during setup?
If anyone can help I would sure appreciate it!!!

I get a similar error on one of my remote machines. Apparently, if you are on a separate domain your remote Enterprise Manager might not be able to see the services on the other domain. So, you get the message that it's not known to be running. I just select Connect and everything works just fine. I can schedule jobs, do queries, etc. I just can't see if the service is running (no circle with arrow shows up).

Unfortunatley I am not running in a pure Microsoft environment. All the network serves are Novell. When I try to connect is when I get the error.
