I have a company that would like to have a SQL server that would be used by websites. I would deliver and receive information. They have virtually no IT except me which is a DBA. I wanted to know a couple of things
1) some good places that host servers
2) The amount of data would be under 50 gig. So what would be a good price range for hosting
3) are there setbacks to these server farms (hidden costs,....)
4) anything else you could tell me that would help me make my decision

Are you looking for a shared SQL environment or merely a place that will house and monitor a SQL server that you can call your own? In the shared environment you may run into issues with access to system databases and space. We are having issues with a shared SQL environment where we are unable to run the sp's needed to free up space on trans logs. Their response is "Just buy more space".
We are moving our SQL environment to a dedicated leased server in a datacenter, and the server is ours to work with/mess up as we please. The company we're moving to will monitor the server to make sure all is good with it and fix any issues that arise.
If you want any additional information feel free to contact me privately.
