server error

  • [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][DBNETLIB]ConnectionCheckForData (CheckforData()).

    Server: Msg 11, Level 16, State 1, Line 0

    General network error. Check your network documentation.

    ODBC: Msg 0, Level 16, State 1

    Communication link failure

  • Maybe you could ask a question or explain what the issue is? this is generally when your client can't find the server.

  • Has it been working?

    When did it stop working?

    What changed between when it was working and when it stopped working?

    Can you do an nslookup on the SQL server name?

    Can you ping the server referenced in the ODBC entry (by name or IP)?

    Can you create a new (test) ODBC entry and connect to the SQL Server?

    Could be an application misconfiguration or network error (cables plugged in? Switches/switch port(s) online?).
