Seperating Log Files to another partition.

    Hi,

    I've read many posts here which suggest to store database's log file to different disk to increase I/O performance.

    I'm now trying to put my log file on another disk partition but still in the same Hard Drive (same controller). Do we have any advantage in this configuration.

    I don't think a separation of data and logs over logical partitions of the same RAID set gives you anything. In fact, when that is my only option I usually coalesce the partitions into one to provide better space management.

    Your ideal scenario is 2 separate RAID arrays.
