Hi David, database mail in MSSQL 2005 does not require any MS Office components, just connectivity to your SMTP relay.

Hello,
I am also getting same problem, so many time mail are stuck in Q when i restarted SQL server. I am getting all pending.
Please help on them, what is root cause and why this happen.

Hi,
I faced the same problem and could solve it with the following
Went to Server Agent Properties, then Alert System, Enable Mail Profile "Database Mail".
Then to History and checked on Delete job history.
Stopped and Restarted SQL Server Agent and it worked.
