Send Message to Client

  • Is there any way of sending a message to Client machines using Computer name.  Through Enterprise Manager the same can be send.  Is there anyway of sending the message using Stored Procedure.

xp_cmdshell option fails if messenger service is not started.

Is there any other method available? Enterprise Manager does not expect messenger service to be running...

  • I didn't think the messenger service needed to be active to do a NET SEND.

RBAR is pronounced "ree-bar" and is a "Modenism" for Row-By-Agonizing-Row.
First step towards the paradigm shift of writing Set Based code:
________Stop thinking about what you want to do to a ROW... think, instead, of what you want to do to a COLUMN.

Change is inevitable... Change for the better is not.

  • Well it fails if the receiver has it off, and now I'm assuming when the sender had it off too. Why can't you just start those services?
