Hi,
I migrated a DTS package to SSIS and I am facing an issue. The package makes use of the 'Send mail task' which doesnt seem to work.
The same package when run as a DTS package in 2000 box is able to send the mail when given the destination address , but the SSIS doesnt.
In SSIS I am asked for the name of the server and the 'From' and 'To' addresses to whom the mail should be sent, which is different from DTS where I have to provide just the 'To' address.
I am sure that I gave the correct exchange serer name but the task doesnt seem to work. The send mail task never completes and stays red in colour..... Any suggestions???
I have made sure that the 'Enable DB mail' is checked in surface area configuration.

Can you send mail from management studio? Is database mail configured for the server? If you try to do a "Send Test E-Mail" from MS/Management/Database Mail is it successful? Unlike with 2000/DTS I think 2005/SSIS uses the same framework for mail.
Depending on your answers to these questions I can send you some trouble shooting queeries and tables to check in MSDB.
Regards

Hi,
Undera management folder I see something called 'Sql Mail' but i dont see DB mail. When I right click the 'SQL mail' i get en error where it says that 'sql mail might not be installed on the instance ' and 'SQL mail does not work on 64 bit version of SQL Server'. And I am on 64 bit sql server 2005.
What do i do from here????????? Thanks for the reply.

Under the 2005 Surface Area Configuration is Database Mail enabled? Honestely your Database Mail Icon should show up under Management either way - but if you go to start/programs/MSSL2005/Configuration Tools/SQL Server Surface Area Configuration you should see Database Mail under the Database Engine and whether the enabled checkbox is checked.
Under management studio what version are you running? If you open a new query window what do you get back from Select @@version ?
