Semi-colon use

  • Hi

I have noticed the use of semi-colon ";" at the end of some code I am inheriting in my new organization can anyone explain exactly what the semi-colon is doing in the code.  I am having difficulty finding any documentation on this in the help files.

I am assuming it is some sort of end of statement indicator may be simular to a go statement not sure.

    Thanks,

  • the semi colon is a way to separate different sql statements, but it does not make a difference in sql server. maybe they will enforce it in years to come.

  • It is also required in specific instances in SQL Server 2005.
