see output statements immediately - recent article, I can't find it

  • Can anyone point me to the article (recent I believe) that explained how to keep your output from being buffered, and therefore it would be visible immediately? I have tried several search patterns but to no avail.

    Thanks

  • Without an example, I am not sure what you are after but, do you mean using raiserror with no wait to output some info as the a procedure runs? If you are on about query results, are you running a query with a sort - this will (I think) wait until the sort is done before you see an output (or was that only in SQL2K?)

    cheers

  • Yes. That is the jist of what I hope to do. I was hoping to do it outside stored procedures. Thanks for the tip.
