Hi all
I've noticed what looks like a red pin on the icons in security under server roles in Management Studio.
Does anyone know what it means?
Thank you

I believe it means it's a built in role the permissions of which you can't modify

Hi Andrew, yeah thanks that makes sense. It must be new in 2012 I don't see it in any of my 2008 boxes.
Thanks again.

2012 added the ability to create custom server-level roles. In 2008 there was no point in denoting what server-level roles were built-in, because they all were.
