Hi,
Silly question, but it has always bugged me.
When you look at permissions for a login or role you see all the boxes for objects and options for select, delete etc These boxes are always empty, unless you tick them for access or enter a cross for access denied.
What is the default value, when nothing is in the box. An hour or so of googling has failed to produce the answer.
Thanks
Colin

Unless the permission box is checked, the permission isn't granted to the user or role. However, if a user has execute permission for a stored procedure that selects, inserts, updates, or deletes the permissions are implied and the user doesn't need explicit permissions on the table itself.

Thanks, that is what I thought.
However, we recently moved aa databasse to a new server and the application failed. We added a guest login to the database, but did NOT add any permisssions and the application then worked.
Trying to explain this behaviour, without success at present.
