Hi guys, seems obvious, but I have a cube with security applied so certain users cant see certain measures.
if i back it up and give it to a user that has these restrictions to attach in his environment, will the security and restrictions still apply?
I am sure it should but is there any thing else I need to consider or be aware of?
cheers

It should, but if that person has administrative rights on their SSAS instance (which they should if they can restore)...they would be able to remove those roles or change them.
I believe the restore GUI also has an option asking if you'd like to restore roles/permissions, so you can choose not to restore those when performing the restore of the backup. You may need to verify...it's been a while since I've done this via the GUI.

Thanks Martin,
didnt cross my mind that he will be able to change roles if he has admin rights.

There's indeed an option in the GUI for this. You can choose to replace existing security options, or to keep the original ones.
Need an answer? No, you need a question
