I am going to be purchasing a book on SQL Server Security and would obviously like to choose the best book. I am currently looking towards purchasing SQL Server Security (http://www.amazon.com/SQL-Server-Security-David-Litchfield/dp/0072225157/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1242055625&sr=8-3). It looks like it was published in 2003 though so I was hoping there was something a little more recent.
Any recommendations are greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Sam

I would not buy a book on SQL Server security written in 2003 because that was before SQL Server 2005 which comes with security sections within each database, schema definitions and other 2005 and above SQL Server security. You may need a SQL Server 2008 book on security because some things that are valid in the relational engine in 2005 are not valid in 2008 because we accused Microsoft of violation of ANSI SQL DCL(data control language). So 2008 comes with AD control of SQL Server relational engine can be limited by the DBA. So read the BOL and look for 2008 book with at least one security chapter.
Kind regards,
Gift Peddie

There will be things that apply from that book. David Litchfield is an extremely well respected security expert.
I'd also look at these two:
