Hi all,
Is it possible to use full text indexes to search for occurences of a word that have characters before it e.g. I want to find rows with 'fred' in them but some rows have 'fred' preceded with other characters i.e. xxxfred.

I think, but entirely sure that you can do this using the LIKE statement...at least accordng the BOL entry:

Not sure yout going to get the full performance benefit of Full text using this approach though.
