Is anyone familliar with the most optimum Compaq Server Family controller for SQL Database performance? I have heard that the SCSI controller is very important to DB performance.

Not familiar, but definitely a good controller is important. Get a battery backed one with tons of cache if you can manage it.

Just like multiple physical disks enhance performance, multiple controllers can as well because the load can be spread.
I agree with Andy' suggestions and don't know which is best. Compaq and MS have a close working relationship, so I'd guess there is info on Compaq's site.

Or if it is going to be a COmpaq get your sales rep to let you talk to a techie (not the CS guys but a real hardware tech). But you want to aim for at leas 3 SCSI controllers minimum (usually vendors use Adaptec Controllers one of the 3 should be dedicated to and backup drives). Should be a LVD (low voltage differential) SCSI spec (these are the highest data thruput which SCSI3 is the highest that I recall but it has been at least a year). Also preferred is each card should be multichannel for expansion without replacing (acts almost like seperate controllers but is actually one). Other than that cannot be more specific.
