Hi, cretaed a number of tailored maint plans from within the gui. Anyone know how I can script these out to migrate to another instance? One method is a bit heavy handed 'backup and then restore MSDB' but this option not really possible once MSDB has been in use for sometime and conatins exisiting server job and other history.
Thanks in advance

Derek,
I don't think you can script the actual maintenance plan, but you can script the job(s) created by the maintenance plan. Go to SQL Agent\Jobs and select script job as create.

Thanks, but that would only create the jobs which refer to a maint plan, which wouldn't then exist on any new server. I guess its time to dive into SSIS. Seems that the maint plan tasks available via the management studio are available in the SSIS designer anyway.
In the past 'sql 2000', I was able to extract a maint plan from msdb and then was able to re-create the maint plan elsewhere. Was hoping someone had coded the extract from msdb in 2005 or had a way in SSIS designer to extract a maint plan from msdb (which appears to be an SSIS package anyway).
