We are looking into Reporting Services as a replacement for Brio. One issue I came across is that in Brio was can kick off a report by polling a table for a certain value, if its there run, if not done't. I can't find that functionalilty in Reporting services, am I missing something?
Thanks

I have not started using Reporting Services in SQL Server yet. However, my company has developed a very nice database reporting tool that allows you to connect to multiple data sources and easily create reports. These reports can be scheduled in batches, produced either hardcopy output, e-mail output in PDF format, Excel output (either straight data or designed report), fixed length or delimited output.
The software suite also has the this reporting tool available via the web. And it even includes a very nice dat editor program.

Hi Susan.
I assume that the report has been designed and previewed. You then need to DEPLOY the report. It goes to the Report Manager (find it on the Reporting Services leaf of the MS SQL Server menu).
If you can see the deployed reports you then need to select your report and create a subscription. See BOL on how to use subscriptions. You can either set a simple subscription where you set the delivery method (file share or email) and schedule; or you can set data driven subscriptions where you can control the delivery by the results of a query (to select users or conditions).
Hope this helps.
