I got the following message on a SQL 7 SP4 server yesterday:
2003-06-17 15:08:48.03 ods The Scheduler 0 appears to be hung. PSS 0x15C214D4, EC 0x15C21684, UMS Context 0x04E5BE68
2003-06-17 15:09:48.04 ods The Scheduler 0 appears to be hung. PSS 0x15C214D4, EC 0x15C21684, UMS Context 0x04E5BE68
I tried to stop the server via EM, but got a 'no access' message. I could also not stop the SQLserver service and eventualy had to reboot the machine. There were no messages in the eventlogs. I could not find any info about this problem in any documentation or on the inet so far, only one MS article but then on SQL2000 which this is not. Any ideas?

There's an MS article that may be related ("INF: New Concurrency and Scheduling Diagnostics Added to SQL Server" at http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;319892). It relates to both SQL2000 Sp3 and SQL 7.0 SP4.
