Please note that my Scheduled Backup Maintenance Plans on sql server 2014 indicates success but there is no backup file.Always On availability is disabled.

Are you sure someone didn't remove or move the file?

MaintPlans are tough to troubleshoot when they don't work, never proper err logging. For something as important as backups I'd switch to the well vetted backup database command in a job..
Put index/stat maintenance in Maintplans who cares about those when they don't work... j.k.

Check the log files for the maintenance plan if you didn't disable those.
Also check the backupset table in msdb to check if backups have been taken.
