Saving SQL Server registrations for other DBA''s

  • Do you know how to save off SQL Server Groups & SQL Server Registrations listed in SQL Enterprise Manager?

I want to create something I can give to other DBA's and Developers so they have the same Enterprise Manager view. I was hoping it might work like creating a TASKPAD view from MMC, but no go. And the EXPORT LIST function is not of any use.

    Thanks

  • Hi,

We had a discussion on this some time ago.

It appears that if you create registrations with Read/Store User Independent property checked in EM then you can share registrations.

Or you can move your own registrations from one machine to another if you created it as domain user with access to both machines. You do that by exporting and importing registry entries  for Registered Servers X under HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server\80\Tools\SQLEW

This registry entries are user specific if Read/Store User independent is not checked.
