I have to create a DR site for my prod environment.
Could some one explain what are the difference between SAN replication(not sql replication) and SQL Mirroring.

They are totally different solutions. There are just a few similarities not a difference.

You've posted in a SQL2005 forum. If you are aiming for dbmirroring, I would advise to at least migrate to SQL2008(R2) because of the optimizations the MS SQLServer team has done to optimize it.
However DBMirroring as in 2005 or 2008 is depricated because it's been migrated as part of Always-On with SQL2012.
