Great editorial, as usual, Steve, and and a great resource, as well (the report).
A small typo, though, I think, in your first paragraph:
"The downsides were that salaries and bonuses had trended downward from the last 4 hours..."
I think you mean years?
(Apologies for the unsolicited correction - my parents were both English teachers, as is my wife, and so it's beyond my control). 🙂

Thanks, and well, they could be trending down across the last four hours. Maybe I need to check my pay stub 😉

This report, although encouraging, doesn't reflect my reality. Where I work the recession is still very much in force and will be for the foreseeable future. No one has had a pay raise since 2008, and that's not changing this year. However, benefits keep raising in cost. Overall, I did better back in 2008, than I do today. I'm happy for those of you who are getting the perks alluded to in the report.
