At least DBA salaries.
Or at least, SQL Server DBA salaries. According to a recent Foote report. It shows that SQL Server is one of the hottest skills in demand onshore, and that many companies are realizing that offshoring isn't all it's cracked up to be. There are too many risks and the rewards often do not significantly overcome them.
I could have told them that a few years ago.
And a few jobs ago.

Well - the (offshore) bubble was bound to burst - just not convinced that its' time has come (foote report or not...)!
If the salaries are indeed up...maybe we won't need to discuss them at interviews anymore...

What's a person if they don't have dreams!!! 🙂

Dreams are great, but you need to ask. Next time you get a review or an interview, ask for a bit more and see what happens.

Tried asking at the last job - I knew they were being VERY lean with the percentages so I took the approach of "no increase - more vacation". Did not like the response (which was the same reaction some coworkers had during their reviews) and here I am. SSDD - only difference is "Same Stuff Different Company"

Before I can even ask, we are cut off with - "that's all we can do".
Is there a salary range I should be "expecting"? I am in the NE. Doing primarily IIS, SQL (10 non load share servers) and Websphere Admin. As well as unix admin.

I'm sure you wouldn't have given complaints in the other case .
I'd tell you my salary but I'm a first year programmer so it wouldn't be very usefull... and way under yours.

Is that a senior admin? If so, it seems low, but it might be ok in that area.

Surprisingly enough, I'm disappointed in the pay offered in "my" preferred regions which include the Rockies. The mere mention of the cost of living differences between potential job locations and my current location seems to make most balk. Why would I move for less?
I'm in Oklahoma, 20+ years database admin and development, 5 yrs SQL DBA making 84k. I would sure hope that the rest of the US wakes up to the value of a DBA.
